Master Chief lays down smack at retail as Halo 3 blitzes stores worldwide, the Tokyo Games Show wraps up, we check out World in Conflict and a whole bunch of stuff in this week's newsletter!

Bang for the buck: WiC

It's certainly been a good year to be a real-time strategy fan, with big offerings from several developers making their mark. Refreshingly, all the big hitters have been approaching the genre in a different way.

The latest to hit shelves is Massive Entertainment's World in Conflict, offering a multiplayer team based focus as well as a complete singleplayer story-driven campaign. Check out kreese's review for the complete low down (and yep, those stars are full, not empty).

Kind of a big deal: Halo 3

The way old MS is marketing Halo 3, it would be difficult to not know that it's now in stores nationwide. Among the usual game trailers, screenshots and Q&A's, there's been the IRIS viral campaign, a successful multiplayer beta and some expensive live action shorts. But will the game live up to all the hype?

We've got another trailer online from EA's Army of Two today, giving another taste of the upcoming cooperative focused third person shooter. The toast of Tokyo

Metal Gear Solid 4 is undeniably one of the belles of the Tokyo Games Show ball, Konami offering up some more tastes from the hugely anticipated PS3 title.

The latest trailer can now be found in the GameArena video library for your viewing pleasure.

The power of the Guitar Hero brand continues to grow as it has managed to reform another band and get them into the studio to re-record a master track. This time it's the 70s punk rats, The Sex Pistols with "Anarchy in the UK". Pretty amazing stuff - now if they could just get Roger Waters and Dave Gilmore to make up and record a Pink Floyd track, life would be complete.

Sega Australia has revealed gameplay features and events for the upcoming Wii and DS Mario and Sonic outing, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Landing on store shelves across Australia on November 22nd, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will feature a number of Olympics-based events as well as specific Wii-inspired control functions for each one.

Surf's Up, Ace!

You're at the beach, and you're pulling into a monstrously scary oceanic pit. A humongous wall of water curls ominously above your head, and one false move certainly will be game over.
